About the Make Series
Q1: Revenue targets for Makuake have been achieved, but are there product plans for the future?
A: Thank you for the kind support. We have product plans for MAKE1, MAKE2 and MAKE3 for the current year. Moreover, new products based on the MAKE Series are currently under development. When details have been finalized, we will communicate them over this site, or mail magazine and via SNS.
Q2: Please tell me about the earphones assembling workshop that led to the creation of these products.
A: For the earphones assembling workshop, we prepared special parts for these models and customers had the opportunity to learn about the earphone construction as they assembled earphones. The first such event held at the OTOTEN (AUDIO VISUAL FESTIVAL) held by the Japan Audio Society in 2011 received high appraisal, and 30 such events have been held over the past 7 years, including some held overseas, involving participation by more than 5000 active participants. Originally, earphone assembly was the main focus, but once we introduced parts such as filters and began to teach users about tuning, there was a really strong buzz about making one's own optimal sound and they evolved into tuning focused events.
Q3: What is meant by good sound?
A: At final, we believe that "good sound" has 2 meanings. The first is a scholarly definition of "precise sound". There is day-to-day scholarly research into how different types of sounds are perceived by the listener conducted in the fields of audio engineering and sound psychology, and we have compiled success from pilot programs involving products that leverage the latest research results. The second involves what an individual listener defines as "good sound". The important part here is what an individual listener feels, so by all means please search for your own optimal sound using the Make series.
Q4: What is meant by sound expansion? How about depth of sound?
A: Generally speaking, this refers to the sound field and playback in which there is good balance between the low range and high range sound in which an expansion of sound can be heard. Additionally, if the volume of low range sound is too high, it can mask other sound regions, making the sound field sound narrow.
Q5: What is a balanced armature driver? What is a dynamic driver?
A: Balanced armature driver: The vibration of iron particles within a fixed driver is transferred to a diaphragm through the drive load, causing sound to emanate.

Dynamic driver: This is the same type of format as normally witnessed in a dynamic speaker. When a sound signal flows through a magnetic coil, the coil generates driving power, and the diaphragm compresses air in order to generate sound.
Q6: What are the differences between Make1, Make2 and Make3?
A: Please refer to the comparison chart. The 3 models share a common form, but offer different driver configurations, surface finish of the chassis, cables and sound filter configurations.
Q7: What are the differences between the sound of the Make1, Make2 and Make3 models? Which genres of music are recommended for which models?
A: Make1 employs 3 Balanced Armature drivers, which are renowned for high resolution sound, and have been designed to generate natural overall sound in order to realize clear, expaning sound. This model is highly recommended for users with a strong penchant for sound quality.
Make2 employs a Balanced Armature driver for beautiful mid-range sound plus a dynamic driver for powerful bass to realize a lively fusion of sound achieved through final's proprietary tuning. This model is ideal tasting the heartwarming bass of rock music and electronic instruments.
Make3 emplys a single dynamic driver to cover the full range of sound in order to realize a natural sound expansion. This model thoroughly pursues a highbenchmark for basic sound.
Regarding Specifications
Q1: How much does the product weigh?
A: Make1: 39g; Make2: 34g; Make3: 34g.
Q2: How long is the cable?
A: Make1, Make2 and Make3: 1.2m.
Q3: What is the length and diameter of the earpiece?
A: Length of the axis is 4mm. The 5.5mm diameter section is 2mm, and the 4.5mm diameter section is also 2mm.
Q4: Is it possible to recable the product?
A: Yes, it is possible. The product employs a MMCX connector.
Q5: Does the product support Bluetooth?
A: Bluetooth is not supported. It is an MMCX compliant wired earphones, and so the purchase of another company's MMCX Bluetooth cable is needed to support a Bluetooth connection.
Q6: Is the product compatible with the MMCX cables sold by other companies?
A: There is some variation in the precision of the dimensions of MMCX connectors sold by different companies. For that reason, it is necessary to confirm compatibility with the actual products involved. Apologies, but at this point in time, it is difficult for us to make any comment regarding other companies' cables.
Q7: Are you using the same dynamic driver as for the E Series?
A: It employs the basic design as the E Series, but the performance specifications are different.
Q8: Is the Make1 cable the same as the LAB cable?
A: The Make1 cable is not the same as the LAB2 cable. The shape and material for the bush section are different. It does, however, use a compatible MMCX connector, so it is possible for users who are not too concerned about uniformity of external appearance to use the LAB2 cable with MAKE1.
Q9: Does the product support high-resolution audio?
A: All 3 models of the MAKE Series emplioy drive units capable with a playback frequency response of up to 40KHz, so they can be said to support high-resolution audio.
However, support for high-resolution audio cannot be judged by a frequency response of up to 40KHZ alone, as an evaluation of sound quality should also be included.
Moreover, the use of sound filters for tuning may attenute the high range, in some cases resulting in a frequency response below 40KHz.
Q10: Is the Product waterproof?
A: To make the product waterproof requires installation of a waterproof filter in the sound canal. Because degradation in sound quality cannot be avoided, this product is not waterproof compliant. In the event of accumulation of water or sweat, the product should be prompltly and gently wiped clean with a dry cloth.
Q11: The product employs special bolts, but what type are they? Please tell me the size of the bolts.
A: They are torque bolts, M1.7 in size and 5mm in length.

Q3: What natural materials are said to be desireable from a sound quality perspective?
A:
Silk and cotton are typical, but there is a risk of mold, mildew and insects, so please use them with care and at your own risk.
Q4: How many possible sound quality configurations are there to choose from?
A: The system is designed to allow users to create their own optimal sound by simply opening the housing and replacing the sound adjustment filters. Replacement of sound adjustment filters can be accomplished at multiple locations, and various types of filters of differing precision are included with the product. Combinations of these filters can be used to create 77 different sound configurations for Make1 and 847 different sound configurations for Make2&3.
Q5: I don't know how tightly to fasten the Torque bolts.
A: The bolts should only be fastened hand-tight in 2 locations as the product has been designed to close with optimal precision. It is adequate to fasten the bolts hand-tight holding the silicon ring section of the driver accessory. Overtightening can lead to damage of the bolts of the chassis, so please take care in tightening them.
Q6: I'm thinking of making my own filters, but what size punch should I use? Please let me know the diameter of the filters.
A: They are 4.0mm in diameter.
Q7: There is a right/left disparity. What should I do?
A: We are using a driver that matches sound level and sound compression, so even a slight difference in the way the sponge has been inserted or the filters have been set in place can make a difference, so please try redoing the entire process.
Regarding Maintenance
Q1: What is the methodology for earpiece maintenance?
A: Sweat or skin oil may cause earpieces to become more easily dislodged. After use, remove the earpiece and wipe the outer portion of the ear canal (the section with which the earpiece axis comes in contact) and the earpiece gently with a soft, dry cloth or a cloth that has been lightly moistened with a small amount of water.
Additionally, the earpiece is a disposable product that becomes more easily removable with each passing day. When the earpiece becomes so loose as to be easily removed, please replace it promptly.

A: We do not have plans to sell a product with a 2.5mm balanced cable as standard equipment, but we do plan to sell a 2.5mm balanced cable separately. Once the details have been decided, information will be disseminated from our website.
Q2: What is aging, and will the sound of this product change as a result?
A: Aging refers to the phenomenon whereby sound changes with sustained use over a set period of time. With the driver unit, the extremely thin film that is heated and shaped vibrates to create sound. The reason for this is not clear, but the stress from the adhesive and the stress applied when shaping the film settles down as it is used, and it is thought that perhaps micro-signals move more freely.

Using leather as an example, when trying on a new pair of shoes, the wearer of finds them stiff and difficult to move in. After using them for a long period of time, however, the leather is said to become worn-in and easy to move in. The same is true with audio equipment. Because this is a small caliber product, it probably must be used for a very long time before any effects of aging becomer discernable. Generally, 150 to 200 hours of regular use increases delicacy and sound quality follows the intent of the original design.

* Since the reason for sound quality improving through aging has not been clearly established, nothing could be clearly stated about aging until now. We have been checking this phenomenon, and have decided to express our opinions so as to collect as many questions regarding aging from customers as possible.
